Ok, this looks like some dried up carcass, but it is actually a product from China. It is twisted dried turnip strips. It's use to make soup.

Banana Pepper Tomato

I was told that this is a Chinese tomato. However after some research, it looks like a type of tomato called the Banana Pepper Tomato. Does anyone know if this is indeed a tomato originated from China?

Strange fruit from China

This strange fruit is from China. It's size is petite. Fits in my palm. The one I have here
has been marinated with some spices. It tastes sweet and tangy. The more you bite into it, the
more spicy it gets. The interior contains a seed that looks like a macadamia nut. I was told that I was suppose to eat the outside as well.
Does any one know what this fruit is called?

The longest Solar Eclipse of the Century

These people here are shopping for telescopes. Hundreds of millions of people are gearing up for the phenomenal event on July 22, Wed. It's a once in a life time experience to the longest solar eclipse that will occur in the 21st century. If you miss it, you will have to wait till June 13 in the year of 2132 to see it again. And of course, we won't live that long.

A new movie will be coming out in 2010 directed by the infamous Wong Kar Wai. The movie is set in the 30's. It's about a woman who came from Shanghai and will have an affair with a spy.

Entertainment Weekly announced that there will be a manga of Twilight coming out soon. I wonder what's next? Maybe moon cakes with Bella and Edward's image on it? The artwork will be done by Korean artist, Young Kim. However, it is reported that Stephanie Meyers oversees the project and reviews every panel. Now, fans got even more to look forward to.

Jiu Chai (King of Chinese Leeks)

I am sure many of you heard of Chinese Leeks (Jiu Chai), but this is a different kind. It is known as King of Chinese Leeks. Many claims that it taste better and it is also more expensive than the regular Jiu Chai. Most of the dumplings I've seen used the green Jiu Chai as the filling. I tasted this in a Chinese dish before and I have to say, it's definitely worth the extra money. Yum!

Coconut Fetish

I always had this fetish over coconuts. I am not sure when the whole thing started but every time I see coconuts, it reminds me of monkeys, palm and a paradise of naked hot men. Ok...back to reality. I never went on an island and actually had fresh coconut, but one day I was shopping at an Asian market and I came upon these. When I first saw it in the frozen section I got all excited. It's a pretty decent size and the coconut is actually encased in a plastic box. On the other side of the freezer adjacent to it is the same coconut; only those coconuts were not encased in a plastic box. The ones with the plastic box costs just a bit more. I assume they are charging for the box. The coconuts looked the same to me. I savored this delight on a very hot day in July. At first glance I thought there were probably only a few slices of coconut meat in there (or scientifically, the endosperm of the fruit) since it only cost me $1.95. To my surprise, there were a lot of meat in the coconut and it comes with some form of translucent jelly inside. The side of the coconut was also filled with meat which I easily scraped out. The only problem with this is that it can get kind of messy and sticky. Other than that, this was a sure delight.
